Continuing our long-standing support of Brighton Photo Fringe, Metro is delighted to be the official print sponsor again this year. In addition to supplying a variety of services to photographers across many different events, Metro has produced vinyl prints using our Direct to Media printer for Festival signage and outdoor exhibitions.
The festival takes place throughout the month of October with a programme packed with exhibitions, talks, screenings, workshops, and parties, offering a citywide, open-access festival of new photography.
Metro has provided sponsorship to OPEN16 Solo winner Dana Ariel, for the exhibition of images from her ‘Encountering Perforated Ground’ project. Metro printed and framed her stunning images, which were taken in Israel and Palestine between 2014 and 2016. Showing landscapes with traces of past activities, which overlay and stain the ground, the images tell a story of political erasure and displacement.
Additionally Dana Ariel and Metro Director, Steve Macleod will be taking part in an ‘in conversation’ event, ‘On Printing’ where they will be discussing current printing practice with examples of the multiple ways they both print work.
SE7EN is a showcase of work from ten of Metro’s own talented staff including printers, technicians, retouchers and sales, and marketing staff. Our passion for photography is exposed in this 7-meter wall of work curated by Director and Photographer Steve Macleod, along with some of our top products and services.
Metro is supporting ‘Photography. Not Photographer’ an inclusive talk and panel discussion – Bindi Vora The Photographers Gallery, Karen Harvey of Shutter Hub, Courtney Husselmann Metro Imaging– hosted by The OGC Director Kate O’Neill. The focus will be on the hundreds of other professionals within the photography industry who discover new talent, encourage new work, curate and organise exhibitions and support and advise existing artists within the world of photography.
